About

I work independently and within Fevkalade, a visual design studio I co-founded in 2009. After receiving my BA degree (with Honours) in Visual Communication Design at Yeditepe University with full scholarship, I completed my MA degree at Sabancı University Department of Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design in 2011. I also gave typography and design lectures as a part-time lecturer at Yeditepe University and Sabancı University for 2 years.

I’m passionate about typographic perfection, grid systems, and color interactions. These passions of mine motivate me to do my best and make me question how to get to the best design solution and how to do it in the simplest way. I believe that good design results from a good communication and a collaborative process. I try to use time efficiently during the design process, understand the problem correctly, empathize and make the appropriate design decisions as rationally and objectively as possible according to the content of the project.

In my search for good design, I understand that the details become prominent as the work takes its final form, making the difference between average and good design, as Charles and Ray Eames once said: “The details are not details; they make the product.” When I design, I conceive of all the details from the correct letter form to the typographic system, from the layout to the grid system, and from the color to the materials. I always try to think how these elements behave on different mediums, platforms, from an app icon to signage, from the still images to motion graphics. I try to construct a simple but to the point approach with my work in order to create accurate solutions. Simplicity is the key element for my design philosophy and it comes together with functionality to make the work both timeless and strong.
